Sharper looks, specification and performance for the New Saab 9-3 Convertible

The MY08 9-3 Convertible is the latest member to join the family features the same ‘clamshell’ bonnet, restyled front bumper and wings and ‘signature’ lighting that so distinguish its Saloon and SportWagon stable mates. As What Car? identified, many of these design cues can be traced back to the dramatic Aero X concept car, which has won awards around the world since its debut at the Geneva motor show in 2006.

Inside, the availability of exclusive new Premium Natural Leather interiors, at extra cost, with an even softer, more luxurious leather finish – combined with award-winning safety features such as Saab Active Head Restraints – adds to the model’s premium feel.

Under the bonnet, the eight-strong, all turbo engine choice includes Saab’s new high performance, low-emission 180PS TTiD twin turbo common rail diesel unit, alongside innovative BioPower engines capable of running on bioethanol E85.

Features available at extra cost include Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Bi-xenon cornering headlights – the new generation of electronically controlled headlights which considerably enhance the driver’s visibility around bends. The New Saab 9-3’s Accessories feature options available to reflect a driver’s personal style and equip them for virtually any occasion.

Starting from just £25,975.00 on-the-road for Linear SE 1.8t models, even the price commands attention.

Moving up the range, this autumn sees further enhancements to Saab’s continuingly successful 9-5 range. Equipment levels have been significantly increased on many models, for example, the new MY08 Vector Sport now features a leather trimmed, sports interior with heated seats at no extra cost.

Like the New 9-3 Convertible, the Saab 9-5 secured the top Five-Star adult occupancy rating in the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) crash tests.
